Looking for suggestions for what to do in Dublin, must-see tourist attractions and the best sightseeing recommendations? Whether you’re coming for the weekend or find yourself with a couple of days to spare in the city, here’s our guide to spending 48 hours in Dublin:
Day 1
1. Take a Hike
Well, a short stroll anyway. Start at the hotel and explore the gorgeous St. Stephen’s Green Georgian square right across the road from us.
2. Little Museum of Dublin
This is by far the best way to spend 30 minutes and is the top TripAdviser activity. Plus it’s 2 minutes from our front door.
3. St. Patrick’s Cathedral
This gorgeous building is about 15 minutes away and it’s the tallest and largest church in Ireland.
4. Guinness Storehouse
The home of the black stuff is the most popular tourist attraction in the country and is only 15 minutes’ walk from the cathedral.
5. Dublin’s Traditional Irish Pubs
Now that you have a taste for it, it’s time to visit some of our recommended traditional Irish pubs in Dublin – and that should take care of the rest of the evening for you.
Day 2
1. Walking Tour Podcast
This is something we made just for our guests. Now that you know the city a little better, take this 30-minute walking tour of the historical highlights of the city centre. There’s also a fashion walking tour for those who love to shop.
2. Trinity College
Now it’s time to go and see the Book of Kells, which is a national treasure and one of the most important illustrated bibles on view anywhere today.
3. Kilmainham Gaol
This is the one place that every guest thinks is amazing. It’s one of our personal favourite attractions and never fails to impress. Go see it.
4. National Museum of Ireland
This is just around the corner from the hotel on Kildare Street and well worth a visit to see our unique history and artifacts.
5. National Gallery
This is just around the corner from the museum and although it’s not very big, it has some outstanding Irish and international pieces, including a very important Caravaggio which was lost until 1990.
6. Dine in Style
Now it’s time to go and enjoy dinner at one of our recommended Dublin restaurants – we think we’ve covered every taste and budget. They’re all on our list and they’re all outstanding.
7. Dublin Bars
It’s the end of your 48 hours and time to wrap it up and reflect over a pint or a cocktail in one of the many great Dublin bars near the hotel.
Phew. What a great Dublin city break that was. Take a look at some helpful Dublin pages for some more ideas.
