Commitment to the Fitzwilliam Future
We at The Fitzwilliam Hotel are deeply committed to sustainability and responsible tourism. We recognize the importance of preserving our local environment here in Dublin and beyond, so we actively implement eco-friendly practices to minimize our environmental footprint.
Our Sustainability Team has recently completed a sustainability audit
Energy Conservation
Our commitment begins with energy conservation: during a recent refurbishment we have upgraded to state-of-the-art energy-efficient systems, including LED lighting throughout the property, smart AC climate controls in guest rooms, and renewable energy sources where possible.
We also ensure that all our water usage is optimized through water-saving technologies.
Waste Management
Our waste management system is another critical area of focus. We have implemented comprehensive recycling and composting programs, aiming to reduce landfill waste and promote circular practices. In addition, we are reducing single-use plastics across our operations and offering sustainable alternatives wherever possible.
Food Sustainability
Sustainability extends to the food and beverage experience at our hotel, where we prioritize sourcing locally produced, organic, and seasonal ingredients. Our menus feature a variety of plant-based options, supporting both health-conscious and environmentally sustainable dining choices. We also collaborate with local farmers and producers, ensuring that our culinary offerings are sourced as close to our location as possible.
Our Team are Committed to our future
The Fitzwilliam hotel is not just a place to stay – it’s a place where luxury and sustainability go hand in hand. We are proud of the strides we’ve made in reducing our environmental impact and are committed to continue to innovate, ensuring that every guest experience contributes to a greener, more sustainable future.

Our Promise
We are committed to working with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability.
We aim to buy as locally as possible – ideally within 100km of Dublin, or within Ireland. We try to limit international purchases to Europe, and only if absolutely necessary.
We will prioritise suppliers who limit packaging or who reuse/recycle packaging from their deliveries.
We are continuing towards eliminating single use plastic from across the hotel.
We value reusable and long life cycle products above disposable products. Where disposable products are necessary we will aim to ensure they are recycled, recyclable or compostable.
Our kitchen produce will focus on organic and seasonal items to reduce waste and reduce our carbon impact by avoiding the use of pesticides.
We will increase our purchasing of products with EU Ecolabel, Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance and other eco-friendly labelling.
In addition to buying locally we will aim to reduce food miles by consolidating orders with our sister properties, growing food on site and eliminating processed foods in favour of food made on site.
We will optimise our ordering to reduce our carbon impact by buying in bulk and consolidating suppliers wherever possible.
We plan to move away from harmful chemicals in our cleaning processes towards more innovative technologies.
We will explore new products made sustainably and from ethically-sourced materials as they become available.
We will continue to only purchase products that enhance our guest experience – sustainability will never mean compromising luxury or quality of service from us.
