August is usually a great month in Dublin – lots of sunshine, visitors and fantastic events. Here are just some of the ones we think you’ll really like:

Beckett’s masterpiece returns to Dublin from July 23rd to August 10th. This play captured the existential post World War II Europe and man’s inexhaustible search for meaning and remains one of the most beautiful and allegorical of our time.

Garden Party

Weekends from June to August, The Garden Party features some iconic musical acts, including Moving Hearts, The Riptide Movement, Horslips, The Moonrockers, The Donal Kirk Band and family-friendly outdoor movie screenings.

Dublin Horse Show

The biggest annual sporting, horsey and social event of the year is back – The 146th Dublin Horse Show takes place at the RDS from August 7th to the 11th with over 100,000 visitors expected from home and abroad.

The Wine & Cheese Festival

This is a first and it takes place right beside the hotel in the Iveagh Gardens from Thursday August 8th to Sunday 11th.

It’s happening again, this time on the weekend of August 10th and 11th in Convention Centre Dublin.

Rugby – Ireland V Italy

As part of our World Cup preparations, Ireland will host the Azzurri in the Aviva Stadium on Saturday August 10th – tickets should still be available for this one.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

This year’s half marathon, 10k, 5k and family fun runs take place on August 10th and 11th taking runners past most of Dublin’s most popular sights, including the Guinness Brewery, the Royal Hospital Kilmainham and Dublin Zoo.

The Big Grill

Europe’s largest BBQ and craft beer festival takes place from August 15th to the 18th in Herbert Park which is only a short stroll from the hotel.

The Snapper

Running until August 24th, Roddy Doyle’s brilliant and hilarious stage production of his own novel. It’s on in the Gate which is, ironically, next door to the Rotunda Hospital where it’s actually set.
