May and the summer is almost here with brighter, warmer days and rich colours and sounds on the streets and in the parks. This is the perfect month in which to visit Dublin and we have some great things going on throughout the city – take a look at some of our faves:

International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival 2019

Now in its 16th year the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is arguably Ireland’s most diverse theatre festival with 21 shows across five stages for two weeks starting May 7th.

Rupaul’s Drag Race: Werq the World

This outrageous show will be in Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on May 8th and 18th. If you like this sort of thing, you’ll love it.

Darkness into Light

This is a worldwide phenomenon – Darkness Into Light is Pieta House’s flagship annual fundraising and awareness event that started in Dublin’s Phoenix Park in 2009. On May 11th there will be hundreds of thousands of walkers in over 200 venues across the world helping to promote suicide prevention.

Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series

Yes, this incredible event is coming to Dún Laoghaire harbour on May 11th and 12th. this will be the second stop of the World Series and is free so you don’t need tickets.

Irish Craft Beer Festival

It’s back – The biggest beer, cider, gin, food and music in Ireland with the original and largest celebration of craft brewing. Go. Go and enjoy yourself in Dún Laoghaire harbour May 17th and 18th.

Gospel Rising Music Festival

This is the 10th annual Gospel Rising Music Festival – Ireland’s biggest gospel music and choral festival – but this is the first time we get to see it in Dublin. It’s on from May 17th to the 19th and it’s FREE.

International literature Festival

Ireland’s premier literary event brings together some of the finest writers in the world to debate, provoke and inspire with readings, discussions, workshops, performances and screenings. From May 17th to the 26th in various locations around the city.

Docklands SummerFest

The biggest free family event in the city is back on May 20th and 21st with music, performances, markets, wakeboarding, raft races, floating golf challenge and Docklands Rubber Ducky Race.

The King And I

The multi-award winning and critically acclaimed Broadway production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein show is coming to Dublin direct from its record-breaking sold-out season at The London Palladium.

The Magic Flute

Mozart’s The Magic Flute with the Irish National Opera and the Irish Chamber Orchestra under Peter Whelan will be around the corner from the hotel at The Gaeity Theatre from May 21st to 25th.

Amélie, The Musical

Amelie is a stunning new Broadway musical based on the much loved five-time Oscar®-nominated French film of the same name and it’s making its Irish premiere this May in the Gaeity Theatre on May 28th.

Guinness Pro12 Rugby
