August is usually a great month in Dublin – lots of sunshine, visitors and fantastic events. Here are just some of them.

Liverpool FC v SSC Napoli

Two of the biggest names in European football are coming to Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Saturday 4th August for a one-off friendly.

Dublin Comic Con 2018

It’s back and it’s on 10th, 11th and 12th August in Dublin’s Convention Centre.

Dublin Horse Show

The 145th Dublin Horse Show takes place at the RDS from August 8th to the 12th. This is by far the biggest annual sporting and social event in Ireland, with over 100,000 visitors from home and abroad.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

This year’s half marathon, 10k, 5k and family fun runs take place on August 12th taking runners past most of Dublin’s most popular sights, including the Guinness Brewery, the Royal Hospital Kilmainham and Dublin Zoo.

The Big Grill Festival

The very best chefs holding barbeques, cooking demonstrations and workshops together with live music from bands and DJs make this a fantastic festival. Herbert Park 16th to the 19th August.

Ironman 70.3

So you think you’ve got what it takes? Once again here’s your chance to prove it as the world’s most challenging endurance event comes back to Dublin on August 19th.

Concerts

August is another busy month for music lovers with John Prine on the 13th, Britney Spears on 20th, Brian Wilson on the 21st and 22nd, Stiff Little Fingers on the 24th and Public Image Ltd on the 26th as well as a whole host of others.
